Bungie has announced the temporary disabling of the Warlock exotic Ballidorse Wrathweavers in Destiny 2 due to a damaging bug, while the Titan's Sentinel Shield super is set to receive nerfs in mid-December. As a live service game, Destiny 2 is frequently updated with content patches and hotfixes, but the game's size and complexity can sometimes result in unintended side effects from these changes.
With the launch of Act 2 for Episode Revenant, Bungie rolled out a significant mid-season update for Destiny 2. One of the primary adjustments was buffing roaming supers, many of which had been underutilized in favor of burst supers like Golden Gun or Nova Bomb. While these buffs revived certain player builds, they also inadvertently impacted specific subclasses.
Recently, it was discovered that Shadebinder Warlocks using the Ballidorse Wrathweavers exotic gauntlets were able to deal massive damage due to a recurring bug tied to damage over time effects. Players were able to eliminate most bosses with a single shot, prompting Bungie to disable the exotic. While Bungie has yet to provide a clear plan for a fix, they confirmed that further details will be shared in the future, leaving Warlocks without access to the exotic for the time being.
Additionally, Bungie highlighted an issue with the Titan's Sentinel Shield super, where the damage output is significantly higher than intended. The melee attack during Sentinel Shield is dealing excessive damage, but unlike Warlocks, Bungie plans to address this issue in mid-December by reducing the damage. However, the damage will still be higher than it was before the Destiny 2 Version 8.1.5 update.
The timing of both nerfs has sparked mixed reactions within the Destiny 2 community. Some players feel that Bungie is being inconsistent, as the Ballidorse Wrathweavers exotic was swiftly disabled for Warlocks, while Titans will continue to benefit from the Sentinel Shield bug for a few more weeks. From a game balance perspective, though, Bungie’s quick response to the Warlock issue seems justified, as the bug’s potential to trivialize challenging content could have severely impacted gameplay.
