Starting December 1, 2024, the Fortnite Battle Pass will cost 1,000 V-Bucks, marking the first increase from its long-standing 950 V-Buck price. This change accompanies the launch of Chapter 6, following the conclusion of Fortnite Remix on November 30 at 10 PM ET. Players have traditionally been able to purchase the Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks and earn back more than they spent by reaching level 100. However, Epic Games has progressively made it harder for players to recover their V-Bucks by reducing XP methods, limiting quests, and placing some V-Bucks behind Bonus Rewards, which require higher season levels to unlock.
V-Bucks, Fortnite's in-game currency, can only be acquired with real money through options like Starter Packs, V-Bucks bundles, or Quest Packs. Price hikes for V-Bucks in 2023 and 2024 have made obtaining them more expensive for players in several regions. Save the World Founders remain the only players with access to free V-Bucks, but even they face restrictions, as Epic has removed login rewards and the Collection Book feature that previously helped them earn the currency.
In addition to the Battle Pass price hike, changes are coming to Fortnite Crew, a subscription service that previously allowed members to instantly claim and keep the Battle Pass. According to reliable leaker iFireMonkey, subscribers will now need an active membership to unlock Crew rewards. This adjustment is likely aimed at discouraging players from subscribing only once every two seasons. To ensure they claim all rewards, players will need to maintain their subscription or strategically subscribe close to the end of a season after unlocking rewards.
Fortunately, this price increase applies solely to the Battle Royale Battle Pass. Fortnite Crew members still gain access to additional content, such as the Music Pass, LEGO Pass, and the rumored Fortnite OG Pass, without any extra costs. Despite these changes, the Battle Pass remains one of Fortnite's most popular offerings, continuing to provide value through its rewards for dedicated players.
